The pH level for pool water should be close to the neutral indicator, favoring alkalinity rather than acidic. Ideally, this would mean a pH number of 7.5 +/- 0.1.
Factors that affect a pool’s pH reading include alkalinity, calcium (hardness) and the pH of the water itself. Alkalinity helps to keep the pH of your pool water at optimum levels as daily fluctuations can occur due to environmental or usage differences. To ensure proper levels we:

Perform Backwashes & Recharges - Poor circulation leads to dirty pools, smells, broken pumps, & damaged tiles.
In order to thoroughly clean the filter for your swimming pool, backwashing should be performed when the pressure rises 8-10 pounds beyond the “clean” pressure.
This method flushes contaminants from the filter by reversing the flow of water. The system is flushed until clear water comes through the waste line.
Recharging - When a Diatomaceous Earth (DE) filter is backwashed, all of the Diatomaceous Earth is removed along with the dirt and debris that was in the filter. This DE must be replaced immediately after backwashing by a process that is called “recharging”

Saltwater Pool Systems vs Traditional Chlorine Systems
Maybe you have heard about the benefits of saltwater pool systems over traditional chlorine systems to maintain that fresh, clean look and feel of your pool. For comparison, here are some fast facts:
A saltwater system can be added to your existing pool setup by adding a Saltwater Chlorine Generator. It activates automatically whenever your pump is running. Water and salt molecules are split by a weak electrical charge created in the salt system’s cell. This results in a safe and natural sanitizing process. The procedure repeats itself as salt molecules are reformed and recycled throughout the pool water.
The salt is half as salty as your tears and less than one-tenth as salty as ocean water. Most people don’t even notice any saltiness.
Homeowners prefer saltwater systems to the more conventional chlorine pools because there is less pool maintenance time and expense. Repairs most often involve a replacement salt cell at about half the cost of a complete system.
Many pool owners appreciate the gentler environment a salt system produces. From less red eyes and itchy skin to longer lasting swimsuits to the absence of a heavy chlorine smell, eliminating caustic chloramines is a big plus for a healthier summer pool experience.
